I attended high school in Harrold, South Dakota, and I attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD. I completed my student teaching in Spearfish Middle School with Elaine Doll-Dunn teaching over a hundred 7th graders. After I graduated from BHSU in 1993, my first teaching job was in White River, SD. I taught various English, reading and computer classes in 6th, 7th and 8th grades for 19 years.
In 2012, my husband was hired as the Miller Jr./Sr. High Principal, and I was hired as a Special Education Aide and K-4 Computer Teacher in Miller, SD. For my second year in Miller, I was hired as the K-12 Librarian and K-4 Computer Teacher. In the 2014-15 school year, I was hired to teach 6th grade. In addition, I have created the Miller Elementary Yearbook since I have been in Miller.
My family consists of my husband Steve, and my 2 sons, Tyler and Alex. They keep me pretty busy with all of their activities - basketball, cross country, track and music activities. When I have free time, I enjoy reading, gardening, scrapbooking, rubber stamping, digital photography, and learning new skills in the ever changing tech world.
There is no other job I'd rather do than teach. Every year is unique, and I look forward to meeting my new students!
